Four Guang Vegetarian Fast Food

If one day you realize you're too broke to even afford a 5 Ringgit meal, what are you going to do? 'ikat perut' ?

Hopefully, you love vegetarian food. Unfortunately we always end up paying more for a vegetarian meal than a normal meal, right?

So what do I recommend?

Introducing you to the one and only CHEAP, good, healthy and clean vegetarian economy rice(chap fan)
CHEAP, as in dirt cheap, only at RM2.00! Eyes opened, jaws droppings yet?

I always pass through this road from LDP to Aman Suria to send my friends back home but this just actually never caught my eye. You know besides the ever popular Betty's Midwest Kitchen, Andes, Kayu, Murni Discovery and so on.

One fine day, my friend told me about this. "Eh this restaurant vegetarian 'chap fan' is only at Two Ringgit."

In disbelief, I asked him to repeat that sentence 3 times. And the next day we patronize it with us betting "if its not Two Ringgit you spend me" :P

See the menu? Its true! Also its a very clean open kitchen with wide array of vegetarian food.
And i got to repeat this to you to. It was really RM2! :)
I lost the bet with my friend, so I paid for lunch but in retrospect, found out a great new place to eat :P

They also serve Curry Laksa, Wantan Mee, Chee Cheong Fun and other dishes as well.

My lunch for the day :)
My personal favourite picks from all the array of food on that day.

Only thing is that after you finish your meal, you need to place your plate at the provided place.
Just like at Ikea!
However, many customers just walk away. Somehow I feel its quite mean
(but maybe they just didnt know).

I've heard that this is like some sort of a donation by a Buddist organisation, sorta like a soup kitchen for the poor. Theres a tv which plays a monk's teachings, but its not dodgy or like a propaganda or stuff.

If i'm a successful restaurateur one day, I would love to do this kind of donation as this is the best way to donate to the public. Cheap, clean, good and healthy food just for the public. Its one of the best ways to give back.

There are varies RM2 vegetarian soup kitchens around town, check out the link below for full details on where is it located.

Six Happiness Mooncakes

Usually in my family, we do not buy nor give people mooncakes because my grandma’s restaurants is one of the Low Chew Pai (prestigious long running restaurants in town). Don’t want to expose it just yet :P.

Throughout my life, I only got Starbucks mooncakes as gifts from dad’s friend.
And though it sounds awesome and all, it sucked big time!

This year however, I got Six Happiness Mooncakes from the same dads friend. Maybe he tasted the Starbucks Mooncakes and knew it sucks big time! :P I got 2 boxes, which means.. 8 pieces of mooncakes!

I gotta say, one of the boxes was really well designed. :)
What do you think?

Six Happiness Mooncake Box

In comparison with some of my family members, I rarely fancy eating mooncakes.
But sometimes you just come back home feeling peckish and want a nibble.
Topped over with a pile of tempting mooncakes from my grannys restaurant?

*Aah* cannot resist! I'll just give in and enjoy it slowly, especially if its ping pei (snow skin)

Getting back to the Six Happiness Mooncakes.

I tried the Lotus Paste, Pandan Lotus Paste and Red Bean.
It tasted really traditional, not too sweet, and very pure, not those diluted stuffs, just like in my grandma’s restaurant.
However, I did not really enjoy the redbean one, in my opinion one of the ingredients added makes it taste a little weird.
Perhaps it is because I'm comparing it with all the years of tasting my grandma’s restaurants mooncake that might sound bias.

They also produce a few modern mooncakes with Tiramisu, Dragon Fruit and Durian flavour but
sadly I didn't manage to try those. Maybe next time?

A whole mooncake contains 700-1000 calories. The average recommended daily intake of calories is 2,500 for men and 2,000 for women, so eating an entire mooncake could take up almost half your daily quota. I recommend my readers to eat mooncakes in moderation or at own risk!

Starbucks Juice!?

starbucks

Nope this is not ur typical Starbucks Coffee Review, its Starbucks Blended Juice Drink….. WOoooaWahhhhWiiWaa!!??

starbucks free coupons

I got some free vouchers from a friend, so that’s how I got to know about the new flavours offered by Starbucks, so I guess it’s considered good marketing?

Stabucks Lemon Hibiscus and Lemon Green Tea Blended Juice Drink
Lemon Hibiscus Blended Juice Drink(left) & Lemon Green Tea Blended Juice Drink(right)

The first cup I tasted was the Lemon Green because it sounds much friendlier and the colour looks much more drinkable unlike a dish washing liquid kind of colour. The Lemon Green Tea tasted sour with not much sweetness and green tea flavour. I guessed they used powdered green tea?

On the other hand, the Lemon Hibiscus tasted sweet right when it touches your palate with not much sourness from the lemon. If compared, I liked this more as this is so cooling, refreshing and has a very pronounced flavour.

In my Opinion, this is not something anyone would order in Starbucks because Starbucks is always associated with coffee unless you are on a healthier or caffeine free diet. I will definitely without a doubt stick to my Java Chip Frappuccino Ice Blended.

Food Mob

I'm currently hooked on to this series called Food Mob, quite an interesting series which i would recommend to anyone who loves to cook or even to someone who wants to learn a thing or two in the kitchen.

Nial Harbison is an experienced chef who quits his job and wants to be an owner of something big like Facebook. He became the youngest ever head chef of a fine dining establishment in Ireland at the age of 21. He also worked as a private chef for billionaires in big yachts and cook for many celebrities including Bill Gates, Posh Spice, U2, Cameron Diaz and Lance Armstong. After months of dreaming and planning of being an entrepreneur, he is now the owner of www.lookandtaste.com and it feature lots of tutorial video of how to cook which he charges a monthly fee for. So to see him in action for free, it would only be via Food Mob :)

This cooking show is very interactive and informal with talking with the producer and director, crazy dares in the middle of the show and funny edited pictures of the chef. Besides that, everyone can ask questions through the forums and suggest what they would like to see in the future series, great stuff!

There was once a girl who sent in a feedback telling the guys that her bf is getting laid so much more often because of the show(learning how to cook for her). So you newbies out there should learn and cook for your loved ones, maybe you'd be the next lucky one! :D
